The acoustic research at the SIM focuses on the development and provision of suitable computer-aided analytical methods for the research activities of   organologists. Therefore, the Aufnahmen im   sound studio records instruments directly in the museum or in especially equipped rooms like the   anechoic chamber or the   reverberation room.

Since recently, digital control of the   PA system in the   Curt-Sachs-Saal makes it possible to study the acoustic changeability of rooms.

In connenction with this project the   E-Lab of department III runs comparative studies of computer-aided methods for the measuring of the acoustics of rooms and of loudspeakers.
